Daae family to perform for Telemiracle

A gospel-singing family well-known to Weyburn audiences will perform in this year's Kinsmen Telemiracle, to be aired on Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7.

The Daae family, (pronounced Doe), of Bromhead, will perform between 10-11 p.m. on the Saturday show. The show will be broadcast on CTV stations, Bell ExpressVu channel 242 and Star Choice channel 315.

The family will sing I Hope You Dance.

"It's nice to take part in it because it's for a good cause," said Wayne Daae recently. The family also sang for Telemiracle in 2000.

Daae said the family including him; wife Kathy; Daniel, 20; twins Michael and Amanda, 18; and Crystal, 16; have been singing together for about 14 years.

"We sing at fund-raising events, churches, jamborees, concerts, senior's homes and United Way telethons," he said. In 2003, they performed at about 70 events.

He said a lot of doors have been opening since the family issued its first CD in June of 2003. The CD is entitled He'll Meet Us There.

Now, they've almost finished their second CD.

"The kids did the whole thing," said Wayne. They wrote seven of the 11 songs, and did the production and music parts.

While the family still farms, Wayne said they're hoping they eventually will be able to sing full time.

This spring, they will sing with another group, the Double Portion of North Battleford, in a traveling series called the Families of Faith Tour.

The group will perform in Weyburn at the Silver Heights Bible Church on Friday, March 26.

The group will tour through Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba on weekends during March and April, and hopes to resume in the fall.
