Despite two blizzards and the freezing cold that hit the Weyburn area, no weather records were broken in February. Weyburn recorded a minimum temperature of -35 at the beginning of the month. But it started warming up and by mid-month on Feb. 17, the maximum temperature was recorded at 3.5. The total precipitation for the month was recorded at 12.4 mm. This is down by over 50 per cent compared to February of 1994, when the precipitation totalled 33.8 mm, however it was close to the 10-year average of 15.3 mm. The highest precipitation total was 50 mm recorded in 1998. The total winter precipitation from October 2003 to the end
of February was recorded at 120 mm water equivalent. The long-term
average total winter precipitation was registered at 84.8 mm
water equivalent. The average high temperature last month was -5.3, while the 10-year average was -5.6. The year 1998 recorded the highest average high temperature at 0.0. The average low temperature for February stood at -15.2. This did not change much from 10-year average, which was recorded at -15.5. In 1994 the average low temperature was recorded at -24.1. This is the lowest recording in the last 10 years for the month of February. The mean temperature was recorded at -10.3 for the month of February. This was close to the 10-year average of -10.6. The mean temperature in February 1994 recorded the higher figure of -18.9 in the 10-year period. |
