Several members of the LW (Lang and Weyburn) Wado-Kai Karate Club scored top three placings at the Manitoba Wado-Kai provincials in Virden, Man., on Feb. 28. A few weeks before, the LW Club also hosted a mini-tournament in Weyburn on Feb. 8. The results of both competitions are as follows: Matthew Johnson placed third in kata and kumite for his belt class at the Virden provincials. He was also second in kata and kumite at the Weyburn tournament for his class. Victoria Gutheil had third in kata for her class from Virden. Erin Sabados had second in kata and kumite from Virden. She was also third in kata and second in kumite from Weyburn. Rob Hein was first in his class for kata from Virden. He also scored first in kata and second in kumite from Weyburn. Rory Bax was third in his class for kata from Virden, and first in kumite from Weyburn. Amanda Gutheil was first in kata from Weyburn and second in kumite from Virden. Scott Bax was first in kumite and second in kata from Virden. Paige Sabados was second in kata and third in kumite from Weyburn. Kevin Linnen had two firsts in kata from Weyburn. Brooke Moon had first in kata and third in kumite from Weyburn. Rose Gutheil had third in kata from Weyburn. John Broderick placed second in kata and kumite in Weyburn. Terri Broderick placed third in kata and kumite in Weyburn. |
