The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn disbursed over $26,000 to four different community projects at their meeting on Thursday evening, said club president Charles Ries.

The largest donation of $20,000 was given to the 2004 Saskatchewan Summer Games.

Ries noted the Games were seeking sponsors of the lanes of the outdoor pool, and the Young Fellows decided to sponsor all six lanes and become the platinum sponsor for that venue of the Games.

In addition, the Young Fellows donated $5,000 to the Youth Centre for their skateboard park, to be given once construction is underway; and $590 was donated to the Hurricanes water polo team.

The Young Fellows are also members of the Weyburn Care-A-Van Society, and gave their annual donation of $1,000 towards the upkeep of their bus, used for the transportation of seniors and the disabled.

The donations come out the funds the Young Fellows raise in their various projects throughout the year, including the Harvest Fling, Christmas tree lot and TV Auction.
