Pangman School students Brenna Lozinsky and Blythe
Vass show off their display based on EnCana's carbon dioxide
flood project in the Weyburn oil field, at the Southeast Regional
Science Fair in Fillmore on Wednesday. This exhibit was the winner
of a Showcase Award from the Regina Science Centre, as well as
the Climate Change Sask Award of $50 and first place in the intermediate
Physical Science category. The pair investigated which type of
earth material would best work to sequester carbon dioxide in
the ground with the least dissipation into the air. They found
that clay, potting soil, sand and peat moss worked well while
gravel did not. |
