The Weyburn Wildlife Federation held their annual awards banquet and trophy night March 13 at McKenna Hall. In the fish category, Joe McLeod won for northern pike with his catch weighing 25.8 pounds. Ron Erixon won the perch award for his catch of one pound and 9.03 ounces. In the whitetail deer category, Ken Young won the typical buck award with a score of 158 0/8. Maynard Chinski won for non-typical buck with a score of 173 0/8. Leo Chinski won for buck by weight, for his deer weighing 138 pounds. Travis Brady won for junior whitetail deer by points, with a score of 153 7/8. In the mule deer category, Albert Ernst won for typical buck with a score of 188 2/8. Reg Zackrisson won for non-typical buck with a score of 189 7/8. Norm Verbeurgt won the award for antelope by points with a score of 73 6/8. Jeff Chinski won for moose by points, with a score of 93 2/8. Ken Kopeck won for elk by points, with a score of 219 3/8. In the bear category, Ron Erixon won for bear taken by rifle with a score of 16 9/16, while Paul Chinski won for bear taken by archery with a score of 15 4/16. In the grand slam category, Mickey Whitrow had 20 points with a bull moose and two white tail bucks. Norm Verbeurgt was second with 19 points for a bull moose, whitetail buck and antelope. Rod Pickering had 17 points with a cow elk, mule deer buck and whitetail buck. Dale Watson had 15 points with a whitetail buck, mule deer buck and calf moose. In the birds category, Josh Bedore won the pheasant award with 39 bars. Kelly Kozij won the photography award. Terry Hemmingson won the calling contest for a caribou call. |
