Comp students win medals at Regional Science Fair

Nine students from the Weyburn Comprehensive School competed in the Regional Science Fair in Fillmore on Wednesday, and brought home a gold, silver and three bronze medals.

Matthew Mickleborough's exhibit on "Auto Fertis" won gold in the senior engineering category, and Dezi Smith and Melissa Dreis won silver for "Optical Illusions" in the senior physical science category.

The teams of Bucky Schneider and Thomas Rubin, Amylynn Baird and Lindsay Geisler, and Katie Unraw and Janine Beahm won bronze in their categories.

In the provincial debate tournament, the WCS team of Chelsey Hudson and Krysta Buchanan had a record of three wins and a loss, while the boys' team of Lane Krainyk and Myles Fish finished with a tough record of no wins and four losses.

Friday, March 26, is a Professional Development Day for teachers and therefore there will be no school for the students.

Saskatchewan photographer Courtney Milne will give a public presentation in the Cafetorium on Monday, March 29, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Weyburn Music Festival continues at the Comp and T.C. Douglas Centre this week as well as next week.
