Police investigate fires in oilpatch, incidents of theft

The Weyburn RCMP are investigating two fires in the oilpatch which are believed to be acts of vandalism.

Two oil well site storage facilities in the Ralph area were damaged by fire between March 9 and 10.

The fires destroyed tanks and equipment, and police believe the fires were deliberately set.

The Weyburn Police Service, meanwhile, are asking for the assistance of the public on two outstanding cases of theft and break-and-enter.

On Jan. 7, a 61-foot Westfield MK 100 grain auger was stolen from Minard's Equipment in Weyburn.

On Nov. 24, 2003, a break-and-enter was reported at Price Rite Drugs in Weyburn, with entry gained through a door. While inside, the culprit or culprits stole medication.

If anyone has information on any of the above offences, they are asked to call the RCMP, the city police, or the toll-free Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers tips line at 1-800-222-8477.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 reward for information which leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the offence. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display, nor are calls recorded or traced.
