The program for the regular meeting of the Town and Country Women on April 19 was about the environment, presented by convener Margaret Lukey. She spoke about harnessing the natural wind with wind turbines such as the Gull Lake project in Saskatchewan. The environment will be the big benefactor of this type of wind energy, since it is non-polluting. The meeting was held at the home of Dorothy Dennis, with seven members and one visitor present. Roll call was "Something more I should be doing to help the environment." It was answered by all with excellent ideas. There also was an exchange of plants or seeds. The Thought for the Day was, "Find the seed at the bottom of your heart and bring forth a flower." A donation of $15 was sent to Camp Easter Seal. Club members learned it is time to complete the Lab Robe project for this year and distribute them to nursing homes around Weyburn. They will be collected at the next meeting, at Vi Flaten's home. Anyone still wishing to take part can contact Margaret Lukey or Vi Flaten for details. The club had a table of baking and a raffle at the Charity Bazaar. It was a very successful day. Raffle winners were Fred Groshong, car robe; Dorothy Dennis, crocheted hangers; Janet Woodard, bunny in a basket. Lunch was served by the hostess, Dorothy Dennis. |
