Fourth Old-Tyme Fiddle Contest held

Weyburn's fourth annual Old-Tyme Fiddle Contest was held at McKenna Hall on Saturday with more than 200 people in attendance.

The youngest contestant was eight-year old Adam Fawcett of Weyburn and the oldest was 85-year old Gordon Radu of Regina.

In the novice category, Kyle Fawcett was first and Adam Fawcett, both of Weyburn, second. Hazel Allan, Creelman was third and Kelsie Walkeden, Tribune, was fourth.

In the junior category, Elisa Fawcett was first and Andrew Horner, both of Weyburn, was second.

In the open category, Adam Waldner, Shellbrook was first; Lionel McCorrison, Tisdale, second. Cammy Romanuk, Saskatoon, was third; Dave Bertram, Regina, fourth; and Michele Amy, Carlyle, fifth.

In the senior category, Billy Young of Regina was first; Bernie McLellan, Delisle, second; Gordon Radu, Regina, third; Joe Jurick, Churchbridge, fourth; Fred Povey, Estevan, fifth.

In the championship category, James Steele of Saskatoon was first; Anne-Katherine Hoch, a German exchange student based in Weyburn, placed second; and Sarah Romanuk, Saskatoon, was third.

In the twin fiddling category, Elisa Fawcett and Anne-Katherine Hoch came first; James Steele and Adam Waldner, second; Billy Young and Gordon Radu, third.

In the novelty category, Adam Waldner came first, James Steele placed second and Anne-Katherine Hoch was third.
