The Weyburn Peewee Flurries girls' fast pitch team kicked off their season against the Regina City Royals on Thursday night in Regina. The Flurries lost 15-14 in a tug-of-war match that saw Weyburn lead the Royals until the fifth inning, when Regina scored four runs to lead the score by two. The fans saw a parade of seven base-runners for both teams in the sixth inning, but Weyburn came ahead of Regina with five runs, putting them in the lead again. There were eight runs scored by both squads in the seventh inning, but Regina bounced ahead of Weyburn slightly and won the game. The Flurries' pitchers combined to strike out seven batters, and their defense had another 13 put-outs in the field. The Flurries also played last night, May 11, against the Regina Fighting Saints at Jubilee Park. Results are not available due to publication deadlines. |
