Weyburn man jailed two years for drug trafficking

A Weyburn man charged in relation to supplying a Regina drug ring with Ritalin has pleaded guilty to two charges, and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Terry Edwards was charged through the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, for his role in supplying Ritalin to a major drug trafficker in Regina, said Staff Sergeant Randy Koroluk. Const. Terry Kerr of the Weyburn Police Service assisted in the investigation with the RCMP.

Edwards entered guilty pleas to trafficking in Ritalin, and possession of Ritalin for the purpose of trafficking, and was sentenced on May 7.

In Weyburn provincial court, meanwhile, an adult and a young offender co-accused of stealing vehicles and bicycles were sentenced.

Tyler Lupanko was sentenced to seven months in jail for stealing two cars, including one from Barber Motors, and for possession of stolen bikes. A co-accused young offender was sentenced to 80 days in closed custody, followed by 40 days in open or community custody.

A young offender charged with an arson in Stoughton made an appearance, and was remanded for a bail hearing in Moose Jaw on Thursday, May 13.

Curtis Moore was fined $200 for throwing rocks at a police car, in an incident at the Connections parking lot on March 14.

City police are investigating a report of a theft of a 16-inch cubed black TOA speaker, Model SL 120, from the lobby of Paradise Market in Weyburn. The theft took place some time before March 3, and police would appreciate any assistance possible from the public.

The Weyburn RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in relation to a truck theft last week.

A 1984 Ford F150 pickup truck, red and white in colour, was stolen early on May 4 from a farm yard north of Weyburn, and was located in Weyburn on May 7.
