Comp musical 'Grease' has four sell-out performances

The 2004 run for the musical production of Grease ended with the Sunday matinee. In the end, the cast performed before four sell-out audiences, and including the show for other schools' students, over 2,500 people enjoyed the presentation.

Students from Weyburn Junior High, St. Michael Junior High and Midale Central School took in the performance. The cast and crew of over 100, the musicians and directors all put in a lot of hard work and dedication to bring off the production.

The next big event will be the spring music concert, which will be split up over two nights this year due to the large number of groups. On Tuesday, June 8, the concert will feature the jazz band, combined choir and the Grade 10 choir.

The next evening will showcase the concert band, the Grade 11/12 choir and the STARS Choir. There will also be some numbers by students who took part in the Weyburn Music Festival. The concerts get underway at 7:30 p.m. on both evenings, and admission is $5 for adults.

Art students will show off their work from the past school year in the annual Art Show, to be held Wednesday, June 9, in the school library, starting at 7 p.m.

The Comp hosted the Southeast District track meet on Friday on its new track field, and 12 Comp students were selected to advance to the provincials to be held in Saskatoon this weekend.

Members of the golf team attended a golf tournament in Estevan on Wednesday. Some of next year's SRC members attended a workshop in Regina on Thursday.

On Friday, June 4, the Comp Jazz Band will kick off the Rotary Polkafest by playing from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Curling Rink. The SRC is also hosting the final dance of the year in the library courtyard on Friday evening, weather permitting.
