Midget Beavers shut out Regina, then lose by one

On May 25, the Weyburn Midget AAA Beavers split a doubleheader with the Regina Dodgers, winning the first game 5-0 and losing the second 9-8.

The Beavers kicked off the first inning with two runs. The first came as Gerad Fox and Parker Cameron hit singles, setting up Fox to score on an error. Devin Ledingham walked, and Troy Miller hit for an RBI.

In the fourth, Ledingham walked and scored on a passed ball.

In the fifth, another run came as Ryan Thompson walked after being hit by a pitch, Evan Schultz singled and then scored on an error.

Fox then got on base on a fielder's choice and scored on an error. Pitching this game were Josh Williams and Adam Wilson.

In the second game, the Beavers lost 9-8. They were down five runs by the second inning when they scored their first run. Bucky Schneider and Preston Shupe singled, Casey McCormick walked and Schneider scored on an error.

Three more runs came in the third, as Mat Larson walked and Devin Ledingham singled for an RBI. Josh Williams walked, Preston Shupe singled for two RBIs.

The Beavers gained the lead in the fourth inning with three more runs. McCormick singled, Cameron walked, Miller singled for the RBI and scored on an error.

Larson singled and Ledingham doubled for the RBI.

Regina got three runs in the fifth and sixth innings, while Weyburn scored one to tie the game. Larson was credited with the RBI this time, following a walk by Adam Wilson and a double from Miller.

Regina scored one run in the seventh to win the game. Pitchers were Evan Schultz, Ryan Thompson and Parker Cameron.

The next home action for Weyburn is Wednesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. They also play Tuesday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m.
