The last couple weeks of May were very busy for the students at St. Michael Junior High. Most recently, the Grade 7 students were away on Thursday and Friday, as they went camping in Avonlea and toured the brick plant at Claybank. The trip also included activities that deal with units of study about Saskatchewan and its resources. The concert and jazz bands were also away on these dates to Moose Jaw and Regina for their annual band trip. Just prior to their trip, they held their annual spring concert at the school on May 25. The Grade 9 students prepared for confirmation, including attending a retreat. The students also put their artistic talents to work in making their confirmation stoles. The confirmation was held on May 18 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. On May 13 the drama group at the school put on a production entitled, Live from SMJH, It's Thursday Night Live. This production consisted of several skits that spoofed a number of popular TV shows and teen trends. The students were directed by D'Arcy Megenbir. The Students of the Month for April were Alexie Hudson, Paige Kater, Rebecca Balkwill, Amy Bernard, Ryan Hoggan and Jen Thompson. They were chosen for display the characteristics of consideration, cheerfulness and generosity. The annual awards night for St. Michael will be held on Thursday, June 3 at McKenna Hall, starting at 7:30 p.m. Final exam dates have been set for June 22-25. |
