The Future Use Committee for the Souris Valley Extended Care Centre will now list the historic property for sale nationally and internationally, as the owners, Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation (SPMC) has now completed its mandatory disposal process. The disposal process involved going through all levels of government to see if any of them would have an interest in using Souris Valley, including the aboriginal community; as no interest was expressed, SPMC is now free to put the sprawling facility up for sale. The Future Use Committee has signed a marketing agreement with NAI Commercial Real Estate, who have access to about 3,500 agents in 40 countries around the world through an affiliation with New America International, and Souris Valley will be promoted on the NAI Direct Internal Intranet web site. New America is an affiliation of industrial, commercial and investment real estate brokerage firms. The property will be listed with both local and national media in Canada, and the company indicated they will produce a brochure about Souris Valley as well as a short video in its marketing efforts. The Future Use Committee indicated there has been some outside interest in Souris Valley in the last six months, and they will work with NAI on some of the current opportunities. These include establishing an alternative treatment centre, education facilities and other commercial uses. |
