Happy Gang wants cars to roll out for Cruise Night

Antique cars, classic cars, muscle cars, trucks, motorcycles - the Happy Gang wants any of the above, and more, to display at their third annual Cruise Night this Friday, June 25.

Last year, the Cruise Night car show attracted roughly 110 entries, and the Happy Gang is hoping to top that number this year, says Gang member Heather van der Breggen.

Cruise Night will be held along the length of Third Street downtown, though it will expand into Souris Avenue if needed. The show will run from 4 to 10 p.m.

Those wanting to show an automobile can pre-register at York Jewellers or register that night at Paradise Market. The entry fee is $2.

Proceeds from the Cruise Night car show go to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Weyburn Youth Centre is also putting on a barbecue that night.

There is no admission to enter the Cruise Night car show. This year, those who come out to view the cars are also being asked to select their favourites for a special People's Choice award, which will be given out at 9:30 p.m.

New Age Electronics will be providing music that night.

Also new to this year, the Happy Gang will be holding a second Cruise Night during the 2004 Saskatchewan Summer Games.

All those who display their cars will be invited back for the second show on Thursday, Aug. 12, van der Breggen said.

The Aug. 12 car show will feature a beer gardens and a street dance with the Knox Brothers performing.
