June was average month for both temperature, rain

June may have seemed a lot wetter and colder than usual in Weyburn but according to records kept at the city's water filtration plant for Environment Canada, it wasn't much different than it has been for the past 50 years.

Only one day in the month tied a record set in the past. On June 24, the low was 2 C, reached previously in 1958. No records were set.

But the long-term mean temperature during the month was 14.21 C, compared to the 50-year running average of 16.37 C. Over the past 50 years, the mean maximum temperature has been 22.99 C, compared to 19.97 C for this past June.

The mean minimum temperature for 50 years has been 9.75 C, compared to 8.45 C this past month.

The total precipitation during June was 78.6 mm, compared to a 50-year average of 73.2 mm. during the month. Record precipitation over the past 50 years was 228.6 mm, set in 1976. The record low precipitation was 11.7 mm, set in 1968.

The highest day-time temperature recorded during June, 2004 was 29.5 C on June 29. The lowest day-time temperature during the month was 10 C. on June 17.
