Students at the three school divisions in this region of the province will see some staffing changes when they return to school later this month. At Weyburn Comprehensive School, which is part of the 11-school Sunrise School Division, teachers Len Williams and Glenda Shupe have retired, as has office staff member Betty Seitz. Leah Birnie, Melanie Goranson, and Tanya Cameron will return from maternity leave. At Weyburn Junior High School, Don Manning will serve as vice-principal, replacing Jacquie Williams, while Crystal Mantei will return from maternity leave. Cara Canje has been transferred from Souris Elementary School and Lynn Quist has been transferred from Haig Elementary School. Souris students will see a new vice-principal, Dara Cunningham. Teacher Leslie Joorisity-Dickie will be away on maternity leave but Marnie Johnson has transferred from Haig, and Tanya Heebner, Holly Butz and Terra Little have returned from maternity leave. Donna Hrappsted-Hart, Becky Tuchscherer and Lynn Colquhoun have resigned. Laurie Hilkewich, and Audrey Carlson transferred from another school, while Souris and Assiniboia Park Elementary School will share Christine Hirtle-Gluck. At Haig, Keith Keating will serve as principal, with former principal Kelly Hilkewich moving to central office. Teresa Chicoine will be vice-principal. At Assiniboia Park Elementary School, students will find Jeannie Payton. At Yellow Grass School, Kenton Field will serve as principal, replacing retiring Pete Schaefer. Tracy Eden from Ogema and Marlee Thuce will be other new faces. Pat Wilke has retired and Sarah Bangsund has moved to Milestone School. In Ogema School, Dawna Mellon will be away on maternity leave. In Pangman School, Sheena Kreiter will be away on maternity leave and Karen Schwindt will be the new teacher aide. In Milestone School, Karen Shumlich has resigned. In Lang School, Carey Metheral and Shawna Melvin have resigned while Gaylene Kaip will be a new guidance counselor for the rural schools. About 1,905 students were enrolled in the 2003-04 year in Sunrise School Division. The junior high and elementary schools begin classes on Monday, Aug. 30, with the Weyburn Comprehensive School beginning classes on Tuesday, Aug. 31. In South Central School Division, which begins classes on Monday, Aug. 30, Shelley Rowein will serve as the new director of education. A new director was needed as South Central's management agreement with Holy Family School Division was severed this summer in advance of a broad new plan for public school board amalgamation. Former director Walt Morris will continue as director for Holy Family School Division. In the Central Board office, Tracy Kiliwnik will serve as the new co-ordinator of student services, and Sandy Laturnas as speech language pathologist. In 33 Central School in Fillmore, Teresa Francoeur and Andre Hollebeke will be the new teachers. Jarod Harvey, Jocelyn Harvey and Val Mytopher, will teach in Gladmar School, with Jacqueline Trombley hired as principal of Griffin School. Laurissa Jacobson will teach in Lyndale School, while Don Parsons will be the new principal. Dixie Martinson, Stephen Poll and Kristen Uzelman will teach in Midale School. Holy Family School Division has some fairly major changes to staff as well. A new principal will be in the office at St. Olivier's School in Radville when all schools open their doors on Monday, Aug. 30. Darrell Perras is the principal, with Erid Doud and Dawn Nameth as new teachers at the school. At St. Dominic Savio Elementary School in Weyburn, Natalie Reiger, Loretta Kot and Trina Delanoy will teach while Lynn Colquhoun is the new vice principal. At St. Michael Junior High School, Valene Wiles and Cheryl Anderson will be new teachers. Holy Family School Division has moved to its new location in Weyburn Square Mall. It serves about 1,100 children between Weyburn and Estevan areas. |
