Getting ready for school

Eight-year-old Brady and five-year-old Shayda Cook start to get their school supplies in order for the first day of the new fall session next week. The two go to St. Dominic Savio Elementary School, which returns to school on Monday, Aug. 30 with all other schools in the Holy Family Roman Catholic School Division. Schools in South Central School Division go to school on Aug. 30 as well, as do schools in Sunrise School Division. Students attending Weyburn Comprehensive School will return on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The old wood stove

Logan Bjarnason stands beside the old wood stove his grandmother used until the 1960s in her restored cabin near his home in Froude. Along with the stove are many of the same, or similar, items his grandmother used to make meals and preserve food for her family.
