The 2004-2005 school year begins this week with the teachers reporting for work on Thursday, Aug. 26. There will be staff meetings along with a professional development day on Friday, Aug. 27.

Students are required to register on Monday, Aug. 30. Grade 10s register from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; Grade 11s register from 10:30 a.m. to noon; Grade 12s register from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m.

All students are asked to enter through the gym entrance (west door) and be prepared to have their picture taken.

There will be a minimum registration fee of $73, which includes a book caution fee of $30. There will also be additional fees for graduation, music and physical education uniforms if the student is participating in these events.

All fees must be paid on the day of registration. All cheques are payable to the Weyburn Comprehensive School board.

Classes start on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 8:55 a.m.

Parents and students are reminded of the annual Weyburn Comprehensive School academic awards night next Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Comp cafetorium.

The ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. This event, which is open to the public, honours the academic achievements of last year's students. Scholarships and bursaries donated by local businesses, organizations and clubs will be distributed among the graduates.

Football camp has already started and the team is looking forward to using the new spotter's booth, scoreboard and recently irrigated field. The end zones will also be regulation now that the old track has been removed and the grass is growing.

There was a volleyball camp at the Comp this week, and all teams for fall sports will be ready to go next week.

The SRC will be kicking off its year with magazine sales. The major fund-raiser allows the SRC to offer its wide range of programs for the year.

Also, they will soon be launching their Eagle Pass campaign, which will allow card holders to attend sporting events, drama productions and music concerts. It also gives discounts for the fowl supper and musical.
