'Alpha' course on faith to begin Sept. 22

Those new to Christianity or wanting to learn more about the Christian faith are encouraged to join the "Alpha" course, a 10-week series of talks offered by members of several local churches in Weyburn.

The Alpha course begins Wednesday, Sept. 22, and will be held every following Wednesday for 10 weeks. The talks will be held at the T.C. Douglas Centre from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The Alpha course is designed as a practical introduction to the Christian faith, but also to offer a non-threatening environment for those with questions about Christianity.

Each session begins with a meal, followed by discussion of a given topic like "Who is Jesus?" If someone wants to bring an issue to discussion, they are welcome to do so.

There is no charge to join the Alpha program. However, those interested in attending are encouraged to contact as soon as possible either Capt. Raelene Russell at the Salvation Army, Catherine Harper at the All Saints Anglican Church or Cameron Weber at the Weyburn Gospel Assembly.

This program is aimed at young adults and up.

The Alpha Course originated in England two decades ago, but this program is now offered in 144 countries, according to the Alpha Canada website.
