The Weyburn Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association will be raising awareness of their programs with two barbecues, on Thursday, Sept. 9 and Monday, Sept. 13.

The barbecues are in celebration of Big Brothers and Big Sisters month, and begins with the volunteer and community partner appreciation barbecue on Sept. 9 from noon to 7 p.m. in the court yard of Weyburn Square Mall.

Burgers, hot dogs and drinks will served initially from noon to 2 p.m., with a clown and face-painting to also be on hand for the children. Cake and coffee will be served from 2 to 4 p.m., and the barbecue will fired up again from 4 to 7 p.m. A magic show will be held at the site from 5-6 p.m.

There will also be a pull-a-prize board from 4-7 p.m., with every pull guaranteed a prize.

This event is a way for the organization to pay tribute to the volunteers and partners who help make the programs possible.

The barbecue on Sept. 13 will go from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. outside at the Southeast Regional College, where information on the programs will be provided along with free hamburgers and drinks.

Information on the mentoring program will be available, as well as other Big Brother programs, along with program and class information from the Regional College.
