Comp students busy with activities

Welcome Week activities are on this week at the Weyburn Comprehensive School, as the Grade 11 and 12 students welcome the new Grade 10s and their parents to the school.

Activities include the pancake breakfast held this morning, Comfy Day, the SRC Scramble, Eagle Fever Day and the first dance on Friday, Sept. 10.

Parents' Night is on Monday, Sept. 13 at the Comp, when parents are invited to come at 7 p.m. and follow a mini-timetable for their child. They will meet the teachers and be given a brief outline of the courses and evaluations.

The evening will begin with the parents first going to their student's SAS teacher and then following the school schedule.

The district golf playoffs will be held in Estevan on Wednesday, Sept. 15, with the winners going on to provincials. The golf team will be in a tournament in Midale on Friday.

The first volleyball tournament of the season is this weekend, with the boys hosting 11 teams from around the province. The competition will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, and playoffs begin Saturday at 3:20 p.m.

The senior girls volleyball team is in a tournament in Notre Dame, and the junior boys will play in Yorkton.

The first home game for the football season is also on Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Darold Kot Field, as the Eagles host Regina Luther.

This past weekend, about 30 former students and spouses from the Class of 1979 visited the school as part of their 25-year reunion.
