Saying farewell to Souris Valley

Patients and current and past staff of the Souris Valley Extended Care Centre listen as health region CEO Lee Spencer makes some comments at the farewell picnic on Wednesday. Spencer noted he started his career here in 1963 and may very well end his career in the southeast health region. Souris Valley, once the Saskatchewan Hospital and Weyburn Mental Hospital, was opened in 1921, and will cease to be used by the health region by the end of this year when staff and patients move into Tatagwa View, under construction on the south part of the Souris Valley grounds.

Walking for Terry Fox cancer fund-raiser

The Morrison family of Weyburn sets out on the 3.2-km loop of Tatagwa Parkway for the 2004 Terry Fox Run on Sunday afternoon. They are from left Teagan, Rylan, Tammie and Randy Morrison. The parents have brought their two children, who are nine and seven respectively, on the Run every year since they were babies. The fund-raising Run is held nationally each year to raise monies for cancer research, with this year's Weyburn Run raising just under $900 with 45 participants.
