Years of musical and theatrical experience are behind the creative leadership team putting together the Diamond Cavalcade musical, which will be staged to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Weyburn Credit Union. Colleen Weimer is the musical director for the production, and brings many years of teaching music to Weyburn students at both the elementary and high school levels, plus being involved in community events such as the sold-out performances of Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat of this past summer. Joining her in staging the Diamond Cavalcade is theatrical director Tibor Feheregyhazi, who works with the Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon. The production is an updated version of the Golden Cavalcade, which was staged a decade ago to sold-out audiences. The musical follows the main character of Buzz Pendleton, his family and friends as they recall the events and growth of the past 60 years in song, story and dance. A special premiere performance of the Diamond Cavalcade will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 30 to an invited audience of dignitaries. Performances for the public will be held on Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. each evening at the Weyburn Comp School Cafetorium. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Weyburn Credit Union. |
