Record temperatures in area recorded on October 9

A slightly higher temperature of 26.5C on Oct. 9 in Weyburn broke a 30-year record for that day, but the rest of the month was average for Octobers over the past 50 years.

Records kept at the city's water filtration plant for Environment Canada show the record temperature of 26.5C beat out a 25C temperature set in 1971. The highest temperature recorded over the past 50 years is 34C, set on Oct. 1 in 1992.

The mean maximum temperature recorded in Weyburn during October was 10.74C, compared to along term running average since 1952-53 of 11.86C. The mean minimum temperature of -1.02C this past month compares to a mean minimum of -1.19C over the past 50 years.

The mean temperature during October was 4.86C, compared to a 50-year average mean of 5.33C. The maximum temperature during the month was 27C, set on Oct. 6. The minimum temperature was -9.5C set on Oct. 16.

Total precipitation last month was 26 mm, compared to a 50 year average of 21.5 mm. The 10-year average is 29 mm. The record high precipitation for the city was set in 1998, with 82.6 mm of precipitation falling. The record lowest was set in 1965, when only a trace of precipitation was recorded.
