The Salvation Army of Weyburn will begin receiving applications for Christmas hampers in early November. Applicants are asked to come in person to the Salvation Army church at 126 4th St. N.E. on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, Nov. 8-10. They should come between 1-4 p.m. For more information, please contact Capt. Raelene Russell at the Salvation Army Corps. Russell said the Salvation Army was helped greatly by the Canada Post food bank drive in September, which brought in several thousand kilograms of food. However, the food bank is always in need of new donations; in October, roughly 60 households needed assistance from the Salvation Army, in the form of clothing, food, household items or other forms of help. Russell said they typically need items like tinned soup, tinned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, cereal and dry pasta. Anyone wanting to give donations of food or money can drop them off at the Salvation Army church or store. |
