Annual Festival of Trees to be held on November 25

The fifth annual Festival of Trees auction, the Family Place's largest fund-raiser of the year, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 25 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The event will again take place in the old Sears building at the Weyburn Square Mall.

All of the festive items, including trees, wreaths, and silent auction items, will be on display at the Sears building from Monday, Nov. 15 to Nov. 25.

Everyone is invited to stop in for a peek and vote for a favourite.

A number of businesses and organizations have already signed on to donate trees and wreaths. This year, however, the Family Place will be putting in four decorated Christmas trees for the Festival.

There will be a large tree, carrying the theme of "Trucks and Dolls," and three smaller trees, decorated with the themes of "Mini Mitts," "Lego" and "Tea Party."

The smaller trees are being done this year with apartment residents in mind, who perhaps can't fit a large tree in their homes.

The Family Place is in need of decorations for their four trees. Anyone wanting to support the Family Place in this way is urged to drop off their decorations before the trees go on display this Monday.

The large tree is being decorated with small dolls and dinky cars, clear mini-lights, wooden beads of all sizes and colours, and twine.

The smaller trees are being decorated with mini-lights, scarves and toques, lego of all sizes and colours, multi-coloured fabric for a skirt, small star-shaped doillies, specialty tea bags, fishing line and mini-tea cups and saucers.
