The WIT Wings met the Subway Bronco Selects for the second time this season over the weekend, taking a pair of losses in Swift Current. On Saturday, the WIT Wings got off to a great start with Curtis Bourassa in net. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie. It continued to be a back-and-forth game in the second period, but Weyburn was on the short end of the stick, as Swift Current was leading 3-2. Victory continued to elude the Wings in the third period, as the Selects jumped to an 8-5 lead. Matt Coupal led the Youngfellows with two goals, while Kelly Oberkirsch, Lyndon Lumb and Derrick Pouliot had singles. On Sunday, Dane Von Hagen was in net for the Wings. He had a good performance in net, but Weyburn was unable to split the games in Swift Current and came away with a 5-3 loss. Zach Douglas scored twice for Weyburn, and Derrick contributed the third goal. Coupal, Tucker Neuberger and Oberkirsch had assists. The WIT Wings host the Estevan Bruins on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 3:15 p.m. at the Sports Arena. |
