Comp SRC to host semi-formal banquet, dance Fri.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) for the Weyburn Comprehensive School will host, for the first time ever, a semi-formal banquet and dance on Friday, Dec. 17. The event is called X-mas Stars, and will start with a turkey supper at 6:15 p.m., followed by a dance at 8:30 p.m.

Students are invited to attend either or both events. Tickets cost $15 for the banquet and dance, but must be picked up ahead of time. Tickets for the dance will be available at the door.

Around 800 spectators took in the two performances of the production, Home for the Holidays on Dec. 7 and 9. Over 200 students were involved in the Christmas show, and the Hallelujah Chorus at the conclusion went over well. The STARS Show Choir will perform at the Inter-Agency Luncheon today, Dec. 15.

Report cards will go out on Thursday, Dec. 16. A Christmas assembly will be held for students and staff on the last day of school, Wednesday, Dec. 22.

School will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 5, and the basketball teams will attend three tournaments on Jan. 7-8. The senior girls will be in Melfort, the junior girls in Assiniboia and the senior boys in Estevan.

Over the past weekend the junior girls basketball team placed third in a tournament in Swift Current, and the senior girls lost to Notre Dame to place second in the Notre Dame tournament. The senior girls curling team placed third in a youth bonspiel in Moose Jaw.

This weekend, the senior girls and boys are hosting a basketball tournament at the Comp gym. The senior girls play on Friday at 4:45 p.m. versus Regina Miller, and on Saturday at 1:30 versus Prince Albert St. Mary's, and 8 p.m. against Regina Johnson. The boys will play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday against Fillmore, and on Saturday at noon versus Radville and at 6:30 p.m. against Moose Jaw Vanier.
