A Weyburn-based folk artist will be holding a charitable tea house fund-raiser at her home over nine days in an effort to raise funds to help the victims of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia. Helen Orsted, along with her husband Morley and her grandchildren, will put on the tea house with all proceeds to go to both World Vision's work with the tsunami victims, and also the Weyburn Youth Centre. The tea house will operate from the Hyde Park Folk Art Studio in her home at 695 13th Street, from Thursday to Saturday, Jan. 13-15, and from Monday to Saturday, Jan. 17-22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. each day. "I thought of what I could do in my corner of the world. I checked with city hall, and they said as long as it's for charity, they don't have a problem with it," said Helen. She will offer specialty teas, coffee, tea biscuits and muffins. Helen will be assisted by husband, her grandchildren, and her friend Willa-Mae Donald. |
