Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Assiniboia Park Elementary School Grade 2 students Maison Laird, Nicole Corrigan, Liam Gordon and Rylee Molde show off the valentines they made for their school's "Heart Board," which contains all the valentines that will be distributed among the students come Feb. 14. A coin from long ago

Weyburn resident Yvonne McNeil holds a 1793 two-sou coin from France in her hand. The coin shows King Louis XVI, and has long been in Yvonne's family. The coin was originally brought over to Canada by her great-grandfather Emil Pierlot, who immigrated here from Belgium. The coin will no longer be a part of her family, however, as it was sold over the Internet. Yvonne said a coin of this vintage in good shape could go for a few thousand dollars, where this one fetches a few hundred dollars from coin collectors.
