The board of the Weyburn Public Library held its annual meeting on Feb. 1 in the library.

Board chair Dianne Sanders said she reviewed the events of the past year with board members, including the ribbon cutting of the redesigned children's area in January of 2004 and the Books for Babies project.

Head librarian Michele Fedyk moved to Saskatoon to manage a regional board and Georgina Souter replaced her, said Sanders.

The board provided an orientation package this year for new board members to help explain their role, the library's relationship with the Southeast Regional Library system, and funding sources.

Sanders said she also reported on the board's first-ever meeting with the Estevan Public Library in May.

"As the two city resource libraries in the region, we looked for ways we could co-operate and share information to make sure resources are used appropriately," she said.

The Weyburn library has gathered and housed a new CD collection for the public. It's expected to be open sometime this spring, she said.
