City police arrest youth, two adults after drug raid

A drug raid was carried out on a home in Weyburn's Navou Park on Feb. 22, with three people charged as a result.

The raid was carried out by the Weyburn Organized Crime Unit, with assistance from the Weyburn Police Service and the Radville RCMP.

The residence was searched, resulting in the seizure of a variety of drugs, including marijuana, cannabis resin, ecstasy and cocaine.

Two Weyburn area adults were arrested and face 14 charges in total, ranging from simple possession to possession for the purpose of trafficking. A youth was also charged with two counts of possession. The three will appear in court later in March.

On Thursday evening, city police responded to a call of a disturbance on the city's east side around 10:30 p.m. An adult was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and committing mischief by causing property damage.

On Sunday afternoon, police received a report of a break-and-enter to a residence, and police are continuing to investigate that incident.

Police also received a report of three break-and-enters to residences in the north-central part of the city on Monday night-early Tuesday morning. City police were still confirming on Tuesday what items were taken in the break-ins, and the matter remains under investigation.

In provincial court on Monday, a male young offender was to go to trial, but pleaded guilty to charges of possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen truck, and breach of a youth sentence on Oct. 3, and another breach of his sentence on Oct. 22. He was also facing an assault charge, and has entered a peace bond. The youth will return on April 11 for sentencing, as a presentence report has been ordered.
