The Weyburn Lions novice boys' team won the 'A' side championship of the 16-team tournament hosted in Weyburn on Feb. 19-20.

Represented in the tournament were Estevan, Fort Qu'Appelle, Lumsden, Midale, Radville, Regina and Yellow Grass. The Weyburn teams included the A&W, East Wey, Lions, Price Rite and Wildcats.

The 'A' side came down to a battle between the East Wey Wings and the Lions, which the Lions won 4-2. Scoring for the Wings were Tyler Kwochka and Kolin Piwarski. Scoring for the Lions were Cole Bourassa and Dexter Happ, with a hat trick.

Overall, the tournament was very well-run and everyone made having fun the priority. Novice division head Corey Krafchuk, the tournament organizing committee and many dedicated parents all had a hand in making the event a success.
