The chair of the 48th annual TV Auction organized by the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn said Monday that club volunteers are already starting to pick up donations. Jack Diede said the club will take anything and everything that businesses will offer for the Saturday, April 16 event. "Some individuals make anonymous donations but it's mostly businesses," he said. The auction will be held in McKenna Hall from 1-9 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Access Television. Diede said this event is one of the major fund-raisers for the club and all the money raised stays in the Weyburn area. Last year's event saw several NHL jerseys donated but the lack of a hockey season this year means those won't be available, he expects. Otherwise, the club takes everything from framed prints to clothing, to used oilfield pipe and gift certificates from restaurants. "There's something for everyone," he said. |
