Ian Nelson, Fran Gebhard and June Mayhew will act as workshop facilitator, adjudicator and apprenticeship facilitator respectively at the upcoming TheatreFest 2005, which runs March 27 to April 2 in Weyburn. Ian Nelson, who recently directed "Camelot" for the Regina Summer Stage and the Gateway Players' "Tomfoolery," was the 1996 recipient of the Janet Laine-Green Lifetime Achievement Award for the development of theatre in Saskatchewan. As an actor and director, his work has been seen literally coast-to-coast in Canada, as well as in France and Norway. For several years, Ian has been a director/dramaturge in the workshopping of new French scripts for the Festival de la Dramaturgie des Prairies in Saskatoon and Edmonton. In 2001, his play "Le Sablier" was broadcast by Radio Canada. Fran Gebhard studied directing at the University of B.C. and teaches acting at the U of Victoria. She has performed in theatres across Canada. Her favourite roles include Brutus in "Julius Caesar", Mary in "Kilt," Joanne in "Jupiter in July" and Elizabeth in "Richard III." She has also acted in film and television projects like "Taken." Currently, she is a dramaturge for the Playwrights' Theatre Centre in Vancouver. June Mayhew's latest portrayals on stage include Edward Albee's "Seascape" with England's Dreamsurf Theatre and Rod McDonald's "Glory Days," presented at the 2003 Fringe Festivals in Saskatoon and Edmonton. Her most recent film and television appearances include "I Accuse," "Queen City Blowout" and "Corner Gas." She is a long-time enthusiast of community and youth theatre and has taught throughout the province. |
