Tasting Eritrean cuisine

A group of St. Michael Junior High students crowd around to try a dish from Eritrea, brought by student Mahder Gaber, at right. The spicy meat dish, called Tsebhi Dorho, is from Mahder's native homeland, and was featured at the Grade 8 culture fair on March 17. Mahder's family was sponsored here in Weyburn by the St. Vincent de Paul parish. The fair also featured displays and foods from such countries as India, Australia, France, Italy and Romania.

Kata forms

Robyn Herlick demonstrates her kata form while competing at the 23rd Prairie Spring Open on March 19 at the Weyburn Comprehensive School. Herlick's club, Vilcu's Karate Klub of Weyburn, hosted the event alongside the Saskatchewan Combative Arts provincials. Over 400 competitors attended both martial arts competitions.
