The 10th annual Bowl for Kids' Sake, the Weyburn Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association's biggest fund-raiser of the year, will be held this Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17, at the Weyburn Superbowl.

The public should take note that, as part of the Bowl For Kids' Sake, there is a silent auction table set up at the Big Brothers' office at Elgin Mall.

Items up for auction include Saskatchewan Roughriders tickets, two Regina Pats and Weyburn Red Wings autographed hockey sticks, Casino Regina show lounge tickets, merchandise autographed by singer Aaron Lines and Corner Gas merchandise, including shirts, an autographed picture of Brent Butt and DVDs.

The auction is also supposed to include an autographed CD from Canadian Idol finalist Theresa Sokyrka, though they haven't received it yet.

People may bid on the auction at the Big Brothers office or at the Bowl For Kids' Sake.

On the bowling side of the event, there are 28 teams signed up for the fund-raiser, substantially more than what they had last year, said Big Brothers program assistant Tanya Pohl.

Teams will be bowling on Saturday and Sunday. However, there are still a few spots open on Sunday, if someone wants to enter a last-minute team.

Teams must consist of four people. Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $30.

Alternatively, people may also sponsor a team of four children, which the Big Brothers and Big Sisters will arrange. The cost to sponsor a team is the same as entering one.

It should be noted there are only a few spots, and anyone who still wants to enter should contact the Big Brothers and Big Sisters by Friday, April 15.

One draw of the Bowl For Kids' Sake is that a door prize is guaranteed for everyone who enters. However, the people who raise the most money are given first pick of the various prizes.

This year, the top prizes include a $300 cash prize courtesy of Nexans Canada, a trip for two donated by Stagecoach Tours and a Family Fun gift basket.

Registration packages are available at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters office.
