Rehearsals are progressing at an intense level for the upcoming production of the musical, Annie, to be staged June 4, 5, 6 and 7 at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Cafetorium. Ticket sales are going well with less than 100 tickets available for the Sunday matinee performance. Other performances still have good seats, but residents are urged to pick theirs up early. The cast will put on performances for Weyburn's elementary school children the week prior to the public dates. The spring music concerts will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, June 15 and 16. This Friday, May 20, is a school holiday in addition to the Victoria Day holiday on Monday, so students will have a four-day weekend. The Comp will host the Southeast District track meet on Thursday, May 26, with upwards of 250 athletes to be in town to gain a berth on the team going to provincials. Golf team members took part in a tournament in Oxbow on Friday, and will host over 100 golfers on Thursday, May 19, in their annual spring golf tournament. Golf action gets underway at 9 a.m. at the Weyburn Golf Club. Athletes from WCS did well in a track meet in Moose Jaw on Saturday. Bucky Schneider and Troy Miller competed in provincial badminton but did not place in the medals due to the stiff competition at that level. |
