Seventeen members attended the Weyburn Royal Purple meeting at the Wheatland Seniors Centre on May 11, and the officers for the upcoming were installed. A Draping of the Charter took place for member Louise Rubin. Judy Buzowetsky reported on the district meeting in Coronach. An account of the successful Mother's Day Tea was given by Marion Brown. Grace Gammack had looked after the ticket raffle. Winners included the following: the afghan was won by Olivia Dammann of Weyburn; the Berny Brown print was Clara Storle of Weyburn; the Jim Brown joke book was won by Mona Connelly of Midale; and the Captain's Table gift certificate was won by Ashley Nyhus of Weyburn. The Royal Purple decided to donate $150 each to St. Michael Junior High and Weyburn Junior High for their awards night, to be held Thursday, June 2. On May 20, Marg Leavens will convene a cheese and wine social for residents at the Fifth Street nursing home. The evening concluded with District Deputy Judy Buzowetsky and Marg Leavens installing the officers for the ensuing year. |
