Dock Work

Dustin Erixon, Tanner Bohn and Harry Forsberg work on building a wooden walkway along the edge of Nickle Lake on May 14. These volunteers were putting new treated wooden walkways over the badly aging walkways that run alongside Nickle Lake. Ron Erixon, zone head of fisheries for the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, organized this project and enlisted the Weyburn Wildlife Federation to help out.

At the drilling controls

Driller Henry Korwicki has one hand on the brake lever and the other on controls as he starts the drill back up again, after his crew made a connection to insert a new length of pipe. This drilling rig was doing a re-entry well for EnCana, drilling horizontally for a new producing well in the Weyburn field. The rig can be on a site for two to three weeks before packing up and moving on to the next site. Check out the May 25 issue of the Weyburn Review for a special supplement that features the oil industry in the Weyburn area.
