No new southeast district track and field records were set during the Weyburn Comprehensive School district track meet May 26, but 18 Weyburn athletes did perform well enough in the brisk, cold weather to advance to the provincial track and field meet June 3-4 at Douglas Park in Regina. One of WCS's four track coaches, Kristy Knops, said three Comp athletes finished atop their respective individual high point standings as well, while one senior boys distance runner nearly broke the record in the 800 metres. "Kris Frisk came very close to breaking the 800 metres senior boys' record. He was very close, and considering the weather, that was a feat in itself. If it had been nice out, I think he would have broken it," she said. Frisk was also one of the three WCS students who finished atop their individual point standings, along with Senior Girls points leader Nicole Squires and Junior Boys points leader Orrie Gaab. Joining Frisk, Squires, and Gaab as WCS athletes at Provincials in Regina will be Adam Ziegler in the 800, 1500, and 3000 metres; John Irwin in hurdles; Jarrod Sidloski in the 800 and 1500 metres; Adrian Miller in discuss, the triple jump, and as alternate for the boys' 4x100 metres relay team; Nichol Thomson in the 800 metres; Jasmine Kravanya in shot put; Katelyn Struthers in shot put; Andy Hodgson in the 400 metres and 4x400 metre relay; Moritz Lehman in the 1500 and 3000 metres, and as an alternate in the 4x400 relay; Brennan Luffman in the high jump, 4x400 relay, and as an alternate in the 4x100 metre relay; Julie Anne Paslawski in the hurdles, 800 metres, and 4x400 metre relay; Britt Pegg in the 200 and 400 metres, 4x400 metre relay, and as an alternate in the 4x100 metre relay; and, Luk Bell in the 4x100 metre relay.
