Vacation Bible Schools lined up for July, August

Several churches within Weyburn will be holding Vacation Bible Schools in July and August.

The Weyburn Church of Christ will hold their "Under Construction: Building Character Like Jesus" classes from July 11-15. This program is for ages four through adult, and is from 9 a.m. to noon each day. There is no cost to enroll.

As part of the camp, a Vacation Bible School team of 26 people are coming from the central Church of Christ in Topeka, Kansas. A group from Topeka also took part in last year's Vacation Bible School.

Though many activities will be geared towards children, there will be an adult class offered all week entitled "Family Matters," taught by Evan Burdan. This is a family class about building communication skills, providing educational info for parents around issues affecting adolescents, and learning about "love languages."

The Silver Heights Bible Church will be holding two summer programs in July and August.

The first, a day camp for students entering Grade 2 to 6, will run July 18-21. The cost is free, and the camp runs from 10 a.m. to noon every day at the church.

The features are tours and games. Parental permission is required for bus rides to tours.

Their daily Vacation Bible School will then run Aug. 15-19 and is for K-6 students. The theme is "Do What's Right!"

The camp runs every day from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The cost is free, and bus pickup and drop-off will be available at Haig, Souris and the Junior High Schools.

For more information on either program or to register, call Nathan Friedt at the church.

The Weyburn Church of God will hold their Vacation Bible School from Aug. 8-12. The VBS will start at 10 a.m. and run until noon. The teen group "Street Invaders" will take part in the VBS, doing games, drama and other activities with the children.

The Church of God VBS is open to children in Kindergarten to Grade 6.

The Lutheran Church of Weyburn will hold their Vacation Bible School Aug. 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon every day. The camp is open to children ages three to 12.

The theme this year is "Safari Adventure." This will include a photo safari into the wilds of Kenya, where they'll see five African animals that point to Jesus.

The children will be given a chance to discover Jesus the King as they travel through Bible stories from each of the first five books of the New Testament.

The New Apostolic Church will also be offering their Vacation Bible School from July 11-15, with a "wrap party" on July 16.
