Enter your weird veggie, win a prize!

Has your garden produced vegetables of unusual size or shape? The Weyburn Review is offering Weyburn and area residents a chance to showcase your potato that grew in the shape or a heart, or that massive tomato or carrot.

The Review is holding a "Wild and Wacky Veggie Contest" in which entrants will have their vegetables judged as to character and weirdness.

There is a grand prize of a $50 gift certificate from Weimer's Hometown, and three runners-up of $25 gift certificates, from the Weyburn Co-op, Sears and the City Centre Mall. To enter, bring down the vegetable (no flowers or fruit) to our office at 904 East Avenue and have your photo taken with it, by or before the deadline of Wednesday, Sept. 28. You could also bring in your own photo, but the entrant must be in the photo with the veggie.

On Sept. 30, the entries will be judged by Review reporters Kevin Berger and Greg Nikkel, and the winners will be contacted by phone.

The photos of the winners and runners-up, with their crazy veggie, will appear later in the Weyburn Review.
