Centennial Homes Tour and High Tea this Sunday

Heritage homes and high tea will be served up by the Soo Line Historical Museum this Sunday, Sept. 11.

The Centennial Homes Tour and High Tea is a fund-raiser for the museum.

As part of the event, roughly 50 Weyburn residents will depart the museum around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, going for a tour of heritage homes like the Eaglesham house, the Moffat place, the Duncan and Russell home and the Jolly home.

Tour participants will be driven around Weyburn in antique vehicles, supplied by private owners and members of the local antique car club, said museum employee Cheryl Franklin.

Franklin said the tours will likely consist of groups of four, since it's impossible to move a large group of people through a single house at a time.

Following the tour, participants will return to the museum for high tea, complete with tea and snacks like scones, dainties and sandwiches.

The servers at the high tea will all be dressed in black skirts, white blouses and aprons, said Franklin.

Tickets were sold in advance for the tour at $25 each. Although there aren't any tickets still available, there is a waiting list if someone drops out and is unable to attend the tour.
