Weyburn experienced slightly warmer weather this summer but a wetter June compared to 2004, according to the records kept for Environment Canada at the city's water filtration plant. In 2004, 78.6 mm of rain fell compared to the 139.8 mm of rain that fell in 2005. The mean maximum temperature for June 2004 was 20C and the temperature went up to 22.2C in June, 2005. The mean low also jumped 2.2 degrees from 8.4C in 2004 to 11.8C in 2005. The mean average was 17C for June, 2005 and 14.2C for June, 2004. July and August experienced the same type of weather except it was drier in 2005. The mean maximum temperature in July, 2004 was 24.4C and July, 2005 was 26.5C. The mean minimum temperature in July, 2004 was 12.2 and July, 2005 was 13.1C. The mean averages were 19.8 in 2005 and 18.3 in 2004. A total of 41.4 mm of rain fell in July, 2005, which is drier than last year when 73 mm of rain fell. The mean average temperature for August, 2005 was 18.2C which is slightly warmer than the mean average of 15.4C in August, 2005. The mean maximum temperature was 25.4C in August, 2005 compared to 21.3C in 2004. The mean minimum temperature stayed about the same in August. In 2005 the temperature was 10.6C and in 2004 it was 9.6C. August has been a wet month for the past two years. The mean precipitation in August 2004 was 95 mm and August 2005 was 91.2. These numbers are high considering that the average is 54.5 mm. Other than being a wet month, August of 2005 stayed around normal. August's mean temperatures were slightly colder, but not significantly. The mean maximum temperature was 25.4C and the long-term average since 1952-53 was 26.14C. The mean minimum temperature was 10.9C in 2005 compared to the long-term temperature of 11C. The mean average for 2005 was 18.2C compared to the long-term average of 18.6C. |
