Comp School gets sports, activities underway for '05

The past week was very busy at the Weyburn Comprehensive School with an SRC dance, boys' volleyball tournament, the kickoff to the magazine campaign and Parent's Night.

Over the past week, the Eagles' football team fell to Regina Martin 23-14, and the girls' soccer team lost their first game to Moose Jaw Central 3-0.

In volleyball, the senior girls won the Notre Dame tournament, while the senior boys placed second in their home tournament.

The golf team placed third at a tournament in Midale. In individual play, Ali Hilkewich placed first, while Jessica Pyett and David Wagner placed second.

Both the SRC dance last Friday and the Parent's Night on Monday had their usual attendance. The SRC is now in the middle of its annual Magazine Sale, and Eagle Passes are available for most extracurricular activities at the school.

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the cross-country team goes to Regina for its first meet of the year. The junior girls' volleyball team is in Yellow Grass today, Sept. 14.

The golf team also participates in South East Districts in Carnduff today, Sept. 14.

On Thursday, Sept. 15, the girls' soccer team hosts Caronport at 4:15 p.m. at Jubilee Park, and then travel to a tournament in Yorkton over the weekend. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the girls host Moose Jaw Peacock at 4:15 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17, the senior girls' volleyball team is off to Brandon, Man. The junior girls are in Carlyle, while the senior boys head to Lumsden.

The junior boys also have a one-day tournament on Saturday, and the football team hosts Regina Usher at 2 p.m.

On Sept. 20, the junior volleyball teams are in league play action at Radville.

Anyone interested in volleyball officiating are encouraged to attend an official's clinic at the Weyburn Comp on Wednesday, Sept. 21, starting at 7 p.m.
