South Central School Div. names award recipients

The South Central School Division announced a number of award recipients from the 2004-05 school year.

Recipients of the provincial General Proficiency Awards are Megan Forrester, and Michelle Tessier.

Megan is the daughter of Regina and Robert Forrester of Bromhead, and graduated from Lyndale School in Oungre. Michelle is the daughter of Brian and Marilyn Tessier of Gladmar, and graduated from Gladmar Regional School.

Megan also received the C.L. Teal Memorial Scholarship of $500. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence, and the student must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Megan is enrolled at Brandon University, and graduated with an average of 97.8 per cent.

The runners-up were Michelle Tessier and Brett Tuchscherer of Radville.

The C.L. Teal Memorial Scholarship was established in 1982 in memory of the late Chester Love Teal, superintendent of education in the Radville School Unit from 1954 to 1976.

Tuchscherer also received the SIAST Centennial Merit Scholarship, which is given to he student in the program who had the highest average in Grade 12 and who applied to SIAST. He graduated from Radville Regional High School, and is the son of Frank and Louise Tuchscherer of Radville.
